Private to the two sides of the duplex: no sharing with other places nearby. The pool is open all year. It’s a big rectangle, 22x16x3-5' Rectangle. Lounge chairs are provided around the pool. Added a propane gas pool heater, so YES the pool is heatable to a maximum of 82' (the high side of recommended rec pool temps, and the same temp Disney uses for its pools!) to take the chill off! This service is by request in advance with a nightly surcharge (varies by season and with gas market price, has been $60-85 per night, just inquire, and must be for length of stay (this is based on market pricing for propane gas, and can change at any time, both up and down, until added to a reservation). Fee subject to change due to incredibly high gas rates right now. Simply request the pool be heated any time after making the reservation and at least a week before check in so we can get it on before you arrive.
Heatable pools in beach homes and duplexes are VERY RARE along the gulf. If a place doesn't mention it, it does NOT have one! Grab one with one while they last!
WIFI/INTERNET
YES! We have an awesome Eero mesh network to ensure excellent wifi coverage throughout this spacious home. Spotty coverage is always an issue for big places. Sure internet may work next to the router in the living room, but what about the far reaches of the home!? That's why we installed a multi-node mesh network. And what's the internet like? It is generally solid and ran > 250Mb down the last test--sufficient for several simultaneous video conference sessions for remote work and education. Internet is, of course, an amenity and subject to service provider outages (and guests "troubleshooting" it), especially with the havoc the sand and salt wreak on cabling and facilities, no more so than any other home on the beach though!
PARKING
There is available onsite, offstreet, parking for at least 6 midsize vehicles (per side), more if you stack well. In duplex units, please be neighborly about this.
SOAPS, TOWELS, COFFEE, GRILLS ETC ETC
As with most beach homes in the area, the local mgt co provide what they call a "starter supply" of soaps, toilet paper, and paper towels, etc. Enough for the first night to get you going! Please plan to bring or purchase additional supplies, and any cleaning or pantry supplies you may need, or to make a quick run to the store (or have it delivered!). You will want to bring beach towels or beach chairs as well. Because mgt cos will not generally support them, grills are not provided, though they are sometimes inherited from prior guests: your mileage may vary on this, and we usually assess and then go snag a small charcoal kettle when we come down ourselves. Also of note: at many locations, you may find the bunk beds (and certain other beds) are not fully made--instead a bedding pack is provided. This is a common practice for the local management companies, which is both green (if the bedding is not used, it doesn't have to be laundered) AND more sanitary--housekeeping does not have to crawl on the bunks and so on to make the beds. Also also... all our homes have both drip coffee makers and Keurigs as well.
PETS
We do consider well-behaved canine furry friends at many locations. This requires owner pre-approval, and is subject to a pet fee (currently $250 per pet). Approval in a duplex location, especially for peak weeks, generally is only available for guests renting both sides of the duplex. Please inquire.
No smoking please, but feel free to eat lots of shrimp, bask in the warm sun, and have a great time!

The house was very clean and nice. The kitchen is very well appointed. It is FULL of dishes, glasses, pot & pans etc. Very convenient to have 2 refrigerators. My family said the beds were very comfortable, could have used a few more towels. The problems we had were: (1) the TV, every time we tried to watch a streaming service it would constantly freeze up & sometimes have to reload. My husband was trying to watch a football game on YouTubeTV, he finally gave up; (2) I paid for the pool to be heated, it was cold; (3) there is no pantry. We had to move dishes so that we could store the groceries that we brought, to get them off the counter; (4) the smoke alarm went off when everyone was sleeping, don't know why. Actually, it went off 3 times, two different ones. We also heard the alarm go off on the other side of the house and no one was there. Would I rent this house again? Yes, if I knew these problems were corrected.

So glad Wits End was clean and nice, the kitchen loaded, the beds comfy, and the two fridges earned their keep — and most of all that everyone had a great time and was sad to leave. Love hearing that! Bummed about the lost star, so let me go through the list — because none of these are ongoing issues with the home, and every one was a quick text away from being handled during your stay.
TV: the TVs are Rokus streaming over the wifi, so freezing is almost always the network. I can see the mesh system and test speeds from my phone — a text usually gets it sorted on the spot. Pool: the heater was on all week per the pool company's log. It should read 82–84 at the filter; if it wasn't holding, one text gets them out — or a refund if it's truly broken. Pantry: fair — we traded that shelving for the second fridge, which most folks prefer, but it does mean rearranging a bit on arrival. Smoke alarms: thanks for calling in the first one — Haleigh went straight over and disarmed the unit on the other side. The others were never reported, so this review is the first we've heard of them; had we known, she'd have been right back. Towels: we stock 1.25 bath sets per guest at max occupancy plus a washer and dryer of course — if it seems short, happy to assess and supply when we hear about it.

The whole house is perfect. There was ample room for everyone and the beds were very comfortable. The house has plenty of towels, pillows, and blankets. The air conditioner has a setting on each floor making it comfortable for everyone. We loved our time here! The owners are very responsive to any and all questions.

We loved our stay! The bedroom configuration was perfect for our group. We used the pool. We did call the maintenance support to check on the front load washing machine. They were immediately on the scene and our concerns were resolved. We love having two refrigerators! Our stay was one of the best ever. Hope to stay with you again

Paradise!!! We love the view of the Gulf. From my livingroom chair I could see the dolphins swim by ... a large pod of them! The sugar sand beach is great for walks and kite flying with such easy access on the board walkway. The cupboards are very well stocked with dishes and utensils. Two fridges are nice for having enough space for many people's food and beverages. There is a pair of morning Doves that greet us every year! This is definitely PARADISE!!!

Family vacation for 10. We ranged in age from 6 to 70 from 2 states. Beautiful beach. Often saw dolphins. Lots of shells. Great house. Two refrigerators were very handy. Appreciated the wooden walkway over the dunes with the shower for removing sand. Enjoyed the nice size swimming pool under the house. We recommend having it heated even in July. Highly recommend S & S Seafood Market which is close to house. There were some days that we did not want to leave the house. Placed our order in the afternoon. When pickup time arrived, a couple of us would pick up the food bring it back to house to enjoy. Much easier than going to the restaurants with the crowds. This vacation was one of our favorites.

This was our first time visiting Gulf Shores! We absolutely loved this trip. There were 23 of us in this house. It was very comfortable, very clean and the location was great! Our favorite part about the house was the 2nd floor boardwalk out to the sand. So nice!

This house was very nice and the location perfect. Dual refrigerators was a huge plus. The living room gathering space was a little small for our large family. We cooked a lot and with our large family and people going in and out, the living room struggled to stay as cool as we like. Overall, great place and great beach access!

We had another amazing time at Wits End West. The 2nd floor balcony facing the gulf is our home away from home during the cold winter months. As always, everything was clean and the full kitchen allowed for nights in when we weren't eating out at the fantastic, close options like LuLu's and Doc's. The private, heated pool is also a great option if the weather doesn't cooperate. We had great weather the whole time so spent most of it on the beach. 😎

We had a great time in your home and didn’t encounter any major issues. The weather wasn’t perfect but we were with family and great friends and away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The best thing about this property are the owners, incredibly responsive and they went overboard to make us happy. Our family group was 6 couples with 2 infants and 4 kids from 3-12. Unreal beach access, we saw dolphins in the early mornings, white sand, very clean beaches and lifeguard stands aren't too far away either. The heated pool was phenomenal for all the kids (and adults), but we had to call the property manager to turn it on. Kitchen was fully stocked with dishware and cookware, Internet was consistent, kids loved the bunk bed rooms - the pictures don't really do this place justice, we were happily surprised with the quality and spaciousness and we have already decided to revisit. The house was high-end and very well-kept. Parking was enough for 1 car and 5 mid-size suvs

We really enjoyed our vacation - weather was great and the house was very accommodating. We stayed at Wits End about ten years ago and the added walk-over to the beach is amazing. The pool is still "cold" (but we enjoyed the privacy of our own space). We actually rented both sides (related parties).

Sad that tomorrow is our last day. This place is amazing and we will most definitely be back next year! The heated pool is kept at a perfect temperature plus it's covered so the fun doesn't stop with the rain. Rooms are spacious with very comfortable beds and thermostats on each floor. Stayed in the gulf-side 2nd floor room which has a nice, tall bathroom to vent steam easily from hot showers. The highlight was the beautiful balcony overlooking the beach, waves, sunrises, and sunsets. We also appreciated the multiple fridges to fit all the food and full kitchen for cooking. Perfect getaway from the Minnesota cold. Can't wait to come back!

We loved the home! From comparing from past rentals we've done (this is our 10th year traveling to AL) we noticed how clean the home was, we could walk barefoot and not be grossed out haha. Also, how solid the house is was also noticed. We didn’t hear much between the floors when people would go to bed, but maybe the neighbors from time to time. We had 10 kids total that ranged from 6 month to 19 years old and lots of personalities. With that being said sound and volumes were never an issue with comfort levels for the families that stayed with us no matter the time of day. Some are early risers and some night owls. We all felt we had the freedom to relax how we wanted without being a bother. Your house was very comfortable and we all had a memorable stay. Thank you for the opportunity to rent for another amazing vacation in our happy place! You guys were amazing to rent from.

The heated pool is kept at a perfect temperature plus it's covered so the fun doesn't stop with the rain. Rooms are spacious with very comfortable beds and thermostats on each floor. Stayed in the gulf-side 2nd floor room which has a nice, tall bathroom to vent steam easily from hot showers. The highlight was the beautiful balcony overlooking the beach, waves, sunrises, and sunsets. We also appreciated the multiple fridges to fit all the food and full kitchen for cooking. Perfect getaway from the Minnesota cold. Can't wait to come back!

Great stay for the family. Stairs were difficult for my 89 year old dad but doable. Everything we needed was available. Very clean and comfortable. Definitely would love to go back again.

My husband and I stayed 5 weeks (February and the first of March) in Wit's End West. We were originally planning to stay 4 weeks but extended a week because we didn't want to leave. Our stay was wodnerful - five stars. The value was great. The view was great. We loved listening to the ocean at night... And not unimportantly since we both worked 'from home' the whole time, the internet was very reliable. The place was clean and comfortable and I really could not have asked for more. The location was also fantastic; the beach was not crowded at all (although I release it was very early in the season) and it was away from the bigger hotels so felt safe in COVID times. Its also an easy and short drive to bars and restaurants. The owners were very responsive and helpful with any questions we had. We would definitely go back!

This was our first time to visit Gulf Shores. The access to the beach using the walkway was excellent. We had 17 family members and there was plenty of room to spread out. When the A/C broke, it was fixed the same day. A few more waste baskets would be helpful.

We had a BIG family trip to Gulf Shores, including my kids, parents, sibling, and nieces, and my husband’s parents, siblings, and niece/nephews. In total there were 11 adults and 9 kids aging in range from 1-17. Even with this many people, it felt like we all had our own space. Dinners were a little crowded, but between the table, couch/chairs, and the coffee table, we were able to accommodate our group. The hi lights of the property include: the pool, which was a big hit with the littles who were slightly intimidated by the big ocean, and with all the kids when the seaweed was a little out of control, the walkover that leads to the beach was soooo helpful for everyone, but in particular my parents who have some trouble walking, the exclusive feel of the beach; it never felt too crowded, as opposed to the beaches by the hotels where we ventured for parasailing. I do not have any specific complaints about the house or the area. There were a few cosmetic details that the owners could fix that had no bearing on the quality of our trip. However, I recognize that we were there at the end of the season, and I’m sure some of those issues happened before we got there, and I’m sure were fixed after the season ended, as the owners seem very invested with the state of their property. We had direct communication with them as soon as we booked, and they were sure to check in with us during and after our stay, to ensure all was well with our trip. It was comforting to know that the owners are very involved in the process, and don’t disappear, leaving everything up to the management company. We did have to call the management company once to get a bed sheet set, and they quickly brought it out to us. We all agreed that we would stay here again.

Great home. We have grown kids and having their own bedroom and bathroom was really great. Right on the beach, fully equipped kitchen. Bring your own towels, both beach and shower. The bath towels provided are worse than motel 6. Put your food in the silver fridge as the white fridge doesn't properly cool the food and it all spoils within 2 days, plus it reeks of fish. Great beach location, comfortable home. Check in process is flawless. We would go back.

This along with being steps away from pretty much your own private beach, made this a very relaxing vacation. The folks at Bama Beach Houses keep you informed every step of the way even down to great places to eat and visit.

Witt's End West is a spacious home with plenty of room for a large family gathering. The beds are good quality and the views are gorgeous. We saw multiple dolphin sitings in the mornings right from our bedroom window! This house is steps away from the beach, with easy access. The only issue we had was that there were a few things that weren't working correctly and needed to be fixed (ice machine, leaky fridge, coffee pot, etc) Aside from those things though, our family had a wonderful week celebrating Thanksgiving at the beach. We will definitely be back!

The location was the best part of the stay. The description in the listing is not complete. I was looking for a house to myself and this property is not that. It is a little deceiving how it is listed, especially for the price. It should mention that the property is two townhomes!

I am so sorry that you did not understand the listing is for one side of a 2x6 bedroom duplex. I do say in the listing that this is for the west side unit and the east one is available too, and that you CAN rent both sides together as one big place with a connecting door in between... but if you have suggestions (I've reached out directly too) for how to write it differently, would love them!). Perfect place for families and large groups. Beautiful houses right on the sugar sand beach! We stayed at Wit's End and even on the chilly days we were able to enjoy the heated pool. We even saw dolphins! (in the ocean, not the pool 😉)

Our experience with bama beach houses was excellent. We started in Wits end and it was wonderful! The access to the beach was amazing and my daughters loved the heated pool even when it was “chilly.” The view was beautiful and the location was great!

Bama Beach Houses was very easy to work with. Everything was handled in a professional and timely manner. Check in was a breeze and the beach house, Wits End, was just the right fit for our group of 12 adults. I would definitely recommend using them for your next beach vacation. And the cheese cake was good too 👍

LOVED this house! The house was nice and clean. Perfect beach access. The kitchen was nicely stocked. If there were any issues, we made a call and the property management was SO nice and VERY timely to come over. A few things that could be better: the kitchen needs new chopping knives, they were dull. One queen room on the 3rd floor and one of the bunk rooms had AWFUL beds. The other beds were great. Luckily we had extra space to sleep in the other upstairs room which the beds were much better. Overall we loved this house. We are already looking at dates to go back. I wouldn’t look anywhere else. Rick was very responsive as well! Thank you for this great property!
