HEATABLE POOL
Private to the two sides of the duplex: no sharing with other places nearby. The pool is open all year. It’s a big rectangle, 22x16x3-5' Rectangle. Lounge chairs are provided around the pool. Added a propane gas pool heater, so YES the pool is heatable to a maximum of 82' (the high side of recommended rec pool temps, and the same temp Disney uses for its pools!) to take the chill off! This service is by request in advance with a nightly surcharge (varies by season and with gas market price, has been $60-85 per night, just inquire, and must be for length of stay (this is based on market pricing for propane gas, and can change at any time, both up and down, until added to a reservation). Fee subject to change due to incredibly high gas rates right now. Simply request the pool be heated any time after making the reservation and at least a week before check in so we can get it on before you arrive.
Heatable pools in beach homes and duplexes are VERY RARE along the gulf. If a place doesn't mention it, it does NOT have one! Grab one with one while they last!
WIFI/INTERNET
YES! We have an awesome Eero mesh network to ensure excellent wifi coverage throughout this spacious home. Spotty coverage is always an issue for big places. Sure internet may work next to the router in the living room, but what about the far reaches of the home!? That's why we installed a multi-node mesh network. And what's the internet like? It is generally solid and ran > 250Mb down the last test--sufficient for several simultaneous video conference sessions for remote work and education. Internet is, of course, an amenity and subject to service provider outages (and guests "troubleshooting" it), especially with the havoc the sand and salt wreak on cabling and facilities, no more so than any other home on the beach though!
PARKING
There is available onsite, offstreet, parking for at least 6 midsize vehicles (per side), more if you stack well. In duplex units, please be neighborly about this.
SOAPS, TOWELS, COFFEE, GRILLS ETC ETC
As with most beach homes in the area, the local mgt co provide what they call a "starter supply" of soaps, toilet paper, and paper towels, etc. Enough for the first night to get you going! Please plan to bring or purchase additional supplies, and any cleaning or pantry supplies you may need, or to make a quick run to the store (or have it delivered!). You will want to bring beach towels or beach chairs as well. Because mgt cos will not generally support them, grills are not provided, though they are sometimes inherited from prior guests: your mileage may vary on this, and we usually assess and then go snag a small charcoal kettle when we come down ourselves. Also of note: at many locations, you may find the bunk beds (and certain other beds) are not fully made--instead a bedding pack is provided. This is a common practice for the local management companies, which is both green (if the bedding is not used, it doesn't have to be laundered) AND more sanitary--housekeeping does not have to crawl on the bunks and so on to make the beds. Also also... all our homes have both drip coffee makers and Keurigs as well.
PETS
We do consider well-behaved canine furry friends at many locations. This requires owner pre-approval, and is subject to a pet fee (currently $250 per pet). Approval in a duplex location, especially for peak weeks, generally is only available for guests renting both sides of the duplex. Please inquire.
No smoking please, but feel free to eat lots of shrimp, bask in the warm sun, and have a great time!

Wit's End was exactly as described in listing. We enjoyed the boardwalk over the dune to the beach and the shaded pool in the hot afternoon hours. The host gave excellent communication throughout the time leading up to the stay and the week of the stay. Would definitely rent again.

Skeptical about the duplex — boy was I wrong!

We took a trip with four other couples to Wit's End East, and even though I'd personally seen the property before renting I was skeptical the duplex would be spacious enough for 10 people. Boy was I wrong! We had plenty of room, the second refrigerator in the kitchen was a godsend, and could even park all five cars in the driveway :) We had all the towels and kitchen implements we needed and loved being on the beach, the shaded pool was perfect when it got too warm. Everyone had a great time

Management was incredibly responsive! We let them know about a bed spring broken and they had new ones delivered the next day. Also, asked for the pool to be heated after our first day and they immediately got it done. Great place for families. Several child locks on doors, access to the beach and the pool access. I felt very comfortable with our kids there.

Wonderful stay at Wits End

We had a wonderful stay at Wits End, East. There were 5 adults, four kids, and two dogs in our group. We had ample space with space to spare. We loved being right on the beach with our own gated walkover that included a rinse off shower and foot spray. If needed, we could make a quick trip back to the house in a few minutes. We have been spoiled for future beach trips. The house was clean and nicely appointed, with wonderful views of the ocean from the living room, the balconies, and a few of the bedrooms. The pool was an added benefit. We were there in early April, so we paid to have it heated, but the fee for that was very reasonable. We had no issues so we didn't need to communicate with the owners during our stay, but there was ample communication regarding check-in and check out, with recommendations for restaurants and other places of interest. Overall, a great stay!

This beautiful home was on the beach, with a dock over the dunes, the big living room and master bedroom looking out over the gulf. The pictures of the home are exactly what we got, and we had such a great time! The kitchen is very big, and filled with all the things needed to cook meals. We didn't use the pool, but that was our choice, we just felt it was a little cold yet in February. Besides, I walked on the beach in the water every morning, afternoon, and everning. I appreciated the pet-friendly acceptance for our 5 pound pooch who also had the time of her life. The folks in the other half of the house were the nicest people. Everything went great. The host's emails before our trip were helpful so we knew what to bring, and what not to bring. There was an endless supply of sunshine, and even on windier days, I could sit on the deck,in the corner, in my swim suit, with a book, and glass of wine for hours. We already booked Wits End East for next year, but will stay two months instead of one. Thank you!

The house itself is nice. Needs a deep cleaning. Love the boardwalk. Pool doesn’t get sun so it’s chilly and to heat it costs extra, just fyi.

Because of that, I was a bit disappointed to see the 3-star rating and wanted to clarify a couple of points for future guests so expectations stay accurate. The pool’s seasonal sun/shade pattern is actually a big perk during the hotter months, though in cooler seasons a shaded pool can feel a bit brisk. The good news is that Wits End is one of the rare Gulf Shores homes with a heatable pool — something many guests really value. 🙌
Pool heating is an optional add-on (as with almost all homes that offer it — it’s a spendy system to run in standalone houses), and it’s clearly explained in the listing, rental agreement, and pre-arrival messages. So we were a little surprised to see it noted as an “FYI.” We do ask guests to request it in advance so we can coordinate with the pool company; in your case, you asked during the stay, and we offered to have them come out, but you chose not to add the nightly surcharge.
Regarding the cleaning comment — our team consistently earns excellent feedback, but if anything ever seems off, we’re always happy to address it immediately. We want every guest to feel fully supported. 👍

We had a blast during our stay. The house was very clean and just the right size. We had 9 adults and 4 kids and we didn’t use one of the bedrooms. We all loved the walk way to the beach and of course the kids loved the pool (it was a little chili because it is covered). The 2 refrigerators were a plus. The only down side were all the stairs you have to climb.
[🤗 Yay! Glad you "had a blast" and the house was super clean, and that you loved the walk way and EVERYTHING else except.... I am super bummed to lose a star for not liking that you have to traverse a lot of stairs. Unfortunately, all homes on the beach start a floor up, so you will always have that flight of stairs, and unless a home happens to be all one one floor (rare, but I have a couple like that!) then there will be 2-3 sets of them, one for each level, of course. And the duplex style homes, which are a super value, exacerbate this a bit because of how they are designed as two units side by side. Like any similar 'townhome" there will have those stairs that go straight up (not turns, no landings). That's pretty unavoidable. You could rent a home with an elevator (super rare and expensive, though i have some of those too) or go with a stand alone home--more expensive than equivalent duplexes, but... usually they have landings in the flights of stairs so not a straight shot up! Again glad you all had the best time in our home. Perhaps next time we find an all-on-one level home, or spurge for an elevator, if the steps of the most common homes are a bit much! It was absolutely amazing! We had all 14 members of my family there and we were completely comfortable! It was extremely easy to get to the beach and my husband who is disabled and is in a wheelchair (when needed) was able to get around.

We had 12 on our trip from age 1 to 76 yrs old. The accommodations were great! Easy access to the beach, and short drive to activities. We look forward to doing it again! Thank you Bama Beach Houses, it was an easy booking, and the communication was superb!

Had a wonderful stay with our family, the bedrooms and view were amazing. Right on the beach as well. Well equipped with plates and dishes. My only complaint would be that we paid for the pool to be heated and it was not. It was supposed to be 85 degrees, but we felt it was not. While it did not bother the kids I have a special needs daughter which is why we paid to have it heated. The neighbors were kind and respectful. We would love to come back.

I know you checked the thermometer and it was reading 84-85, so we do know it was working, and in fact was warmer than normal as our spec is 82-84. 85 is actually quite warm for a pool, and these are pools not hot tubs... in fact, even Disney only holds their heatable pools at 82, so we were even 3 degrees warmer! And certainly much much better than the 70s it would have been without the heater on. 🥶 Since water that is below body temp will "take" heat from skin, it will almost always feel cold when folks get in (its just the physics of heat loss), and again I am sorry that this was not warm enough for your special needs child. Had this been brought up prior to, or during, the stay, we may have been better situated to address your situation or to moderate expectations. Again, really glad you had a wonderful time, and we'd be happy to have you back again anytime!]

I wish you had reached out about that as I installed that, with a very nice multinode wifi mesh network, so it really is a solid network, with coverage throughout the home, unlike many where there is a single wifi access point. I would have been happy to trouble shoot. Also possible with the storms that mediacom had some outages, but those usually mean a complete loss of signal, though sometimes a quick modem and eero router reset can flush out sporadic ones! Anyway, next time if you have any issues, shoot the mgt co (Bama Beach Houses) or me a note/text/platform communication and we can take a look. Again, really glad you all had a fantastic time, and I would be happy to host you all again anytime! Ty! 🙏]

I just can’t say enough about this amazing beach house. We have stayed in Beach Houses for years and this is by far, the best one we’ve ever stayed in. We had a big family vacation that included ages 22 through 81. The house is set up perfectly with clean and comfortable rooms on every floor. The mattresses were soft and comfortable. There was a thermostat on each floor. The convenience of two refrigerators and a washer and dryer was Great. The accessibility of the beach was so amazing due to the wooden walkway and short distance to the ocean. It was never crowded in front of the beach house even in July. It was nice to have a pool on the ground floor near the parking area. The 6 bathrooms were convenient and clean and large enough for our big group. We had a great time relaxing by the ocean, cooking, playing games and watching movies. Our pups loved it too! The owners were easy to communicate with and extremely helpful. This was definitely a 10 out of a 10 experience!

The house was just great for us. Top assets were: Shaded pool in August and it worked all week, Very comfortable mattresses, Six bathrooms!, SHORT walk to the surf with half of it on that great boardwalk that made wagon runs so much easier, Two refrigerators, And finally, you actually had enough silverware, dishes, cookware and appliances for the large capacity of the house (that’s the first time that happened for us in years of vacation rentals). Re the management company, the contact I had with them was to compliment them on how clean the house was and how smooth check-in went, meaning the door code arrived in time, it worked, and the house was indeed ready. I called them to report a broken shelf rail in the refrigerator. They quickly offered to send someone to fix it but I carry duct tape and that held it for the week. They dropped off some tasty chocolates for the inconvenience, nice touch. So that's it. All good.

The house was as shown on the listing. The boardwalk to the beach was great. We had someone check to see if we needed anything and told them a broom and had one within the hour. I would highly recommend this house property .

The property was perfect for our annual trip- 3 families with friends (15 total). The house was a cute classic beach vibe, clean, and we had enough room to park 5 cars and our boat on our side of the duplex. The boardwalk to the beach was AMAZING 👏👏👏 after many summers of having to drive/walk over the hot asphalt to get to beach access this was so convenient!! The hosts were very responsive and even proactive in checking in with us and making sure we had all of the info we needed regarding the city rules, renting chairs, etc. we had a blast and would 10/10 recommend this house ❤️

The trip was amazing we always enjoy brining the kids to gulf shores. The house was amazing the kids loved the board walk to the beach and the access. We couldn’t have asked for a better week. The house was so nice, it accommodated all of our needs. Experience and house was amazing. Hopefully we can book again next year when we bring kids back for their trip.

The house was nice, the boardwalk to the beach was our favorite part. With 2 toddlers it made it super easy to access the beach. Any issues we had were promptly taken care of by property manager (Haleigh), she was sweet and helpful with everything! I will say the photos on VRBO are a bit outdated, and beware there are A LOT of stairs, but other than that no complaints! We plan to book again with Bama Beach Houses for our next trip!

Yes indeed any place on the beach will have a full flight of stairs up, and the duplexes will almost always be a straight flight (no landings) due to how they have to be built side by side. Occupational hazard of being on the beach, where the 'first floor' has to be one big floor up! I am sorry you had a few things that weren't quite perfect on arrival but so glad that we handled it rapidly and effectively for you guys! The boardwalk directly from the house over the sand dunes to the beach was a huge highlight. The beautiful view from the house of the beach and being able to see friends/family playing and sitting on the beach was advantageous. Spending time with friends/family was wonderful! & being able to get out of the sun and still enjoy the water with the pool under the house was great.

No issues checking in, house was clean, loved the boardwalk it was a life saver for me. Enough room for all 15 of us, adults had their own bedroom, two bedrooms shared a bathroom and the kids had their own rooms on the top floor. Remember if you rent this house you are going to climb stairs - three stories we just put the kids on the third floor. Had two big balconies with great views and beach access. Location was also great . Also, with this house you are renting one side be aware you are going to have neighbors. There are two grills there but very little room to grill.

The house is as beautiful as the pictures show on the ad, well kept, plenty of room for 14 of us to enjoy a week of vacation. Accommodations were great, with all the amenities, kitchen supplied with everything needed to prepare meals for fourteen people. Beautiful view of the ocean sitting out on the patios, nice deck walk way to the beach. Close by eateries, and shops. Highly recommended as a home away from home. .

We stayed Thanksgiving Week 2023 at Wit’s End East and it was excellent. Steps to the beach and close to Gulf Shores restaurants and shops. Nice big shaded pool on bottom level but fall temperatures kept us out. It’d be great in summer. Communication and instructions were great. We loved it.

The house was amazing. We had our family vacation, there was 12 of use, and there was plenty of room. The living areas got a little crowded when we were all in there, but that was expected with the large group. There was more than enough room for sleeping. The walkout to the Beach was so helpful with the smaller children. Everything was wonderful! We can't wait to book next years trip!

We recently stayed at Wits End East and had a great time! There were 19 of us total and the place was very spacious and clean. The pool kept the littles entertained when we were ready to get out of the sun for a bit. There was a lot of things to do nearby and many places to eat. Our host, Richard, was very prompt and helpful and was able to accomodate our furry friends. One of the absolute best trips we have taken! We will definitely be booking again!

It was another great stay. We stayed in Wits End. It was a beautiful place. Very spacious. We did Sundancer last year. I think I may have liked it a little better since it has the pool in the sun vs under the house but the shady pool was nice for the kids! The hot water heater was out when we got there for the top floor. I contacted the company through the text number the next morning. They quickly responded and had someone there that day to check it and was replaced on the following day Tuesday. Thank you!

It could not have been more perfect. Your house was beautiful and perfectly appointed. It accommodated us 3 “older” ladies and the 4 kids, whom I think bed hopped throughout the week. Everybody had their own space which was perfect. The closeness to the shuttle pick up for Hang out for them could not have been more convenient. They would’ve had to walk otherwise, mom was on vacation too! Loved your recommendation for food, too. It was all delicious!

Snowbirds, that us! We stayed here December to the start of March. It was perfect for us, and our neighbors were great too. This is our second year here, and we have stayed in Bama Beach Houses homes many more than that. Always great. Hope to be back next year, health permitting. Thank you!

We really enjoyed our vacation - weather was great and the house was very accommodating. We stayed at Wits End about ten years ago and the added walk-over to the beach is amazing. The pool is still "cold" (but we enjoyed the privacy of our own space). We actually rented both sides (related parties).

Morning walks on the beach, chasing crabs at night, private pool, covered parking, room for your family and the in-laws (on separate floors, of course), this place has it all. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Wits End East. A short drive to all the popular Gulf Shores attractions, but far enough away from the crowds.

This house was exactly what we were hoping for! We came to have Christmas with the family and were not disappointed! There were 14 of us, ages 6 to 70, and there was plenty of space for everyone! The kitchen is well-stocked, there is plenty of sleeping and bathroom space, and everything is clean and comfortable. It’s right on the beach and has amazing views and is close to everything we needed. The beach is clean and the sand is soft, making it easy to spend the whole day out there collecting shells and watching the dolphins play. The only down side was the washer/dryer combo. It’s pretty small for such a big place and doesn’t work the best. Overall we had a great vacation and would highly recommend it and will definitely stay again!

This place is ok. Got to share it with college kids from La. who got the cops called for being loud. We went and purchased new umbrella's and chairs and left them out in front of the condo overnight but they got picked up by dawn by Gulf Shores beach patrol so we lost all of them on day 1. We wouldn't have done it if we knew. They said there is an ordinance that must be displayed in multiple locations but wasn't. The people at Meyer said it must have been in some email that I overlooked. NOPE I looked when I got home.
Good afternoon Ken. I am glad you had a good time at our home and sorry two things marred your stay. Gulf Shores has a long standing program called Leave Only Footprints. We reference it in our policies and procedures, emailed a few weeks before your stay, which was read August 8, and mentions "Check-in, Check-out, Occupancy limits, Leave Only Footprints, Parking, and so much more... Check it out in our policies and procedures", which are also referenced in the rental agreement and confirmation. Although I am not aware of any ordinance about putting signage on the beach at each home, the city last time I was there had large construction type signs along the road. I am sorry that you all missed these and left your things on the beach over night only to come out the next day and find them gone. That had to be frustrating. Gulf Shores is zealous about this. You are actually the first group I've had this happen to but one is enough and I will put it in its own stand alone email too. I'll also check to see if the fridge magnet went awol, which is possible. On the neighbors, I am very sorry about that the group next to you behaved poorly. That group booked through the management co directly, and your note after the fact was the first I'd heard about it. That behavior is not acceptable. I hope Meyer assisted you with them. I've asked they not be allowed in one of my homes in the future. As I said in my email, I am happy to assist you with a future stay, either at this home or as you indicated, a bigger one. As I emailed, happy to help a little on the upgrade as a result of your reported loss of beach stuff and the inconvenience of the neighbors being rowdy. Thanks again! Rick

We enjoyed our stay at Wit's End East so much! The property fit our needs very well, allowing privacy and togetherness as needed. I was impressed with how well equipped the kitchen was! No Keurig, but two drip pots which worked out just as well. Access to the beach was incredible and the pool below the house was great. Everything seemed well maintained. We really had no contact with the management company, but everything went smoothly. We would definitely consider the property for future beach trips!

Beautiful property and timely responses to any incidental needs (burned out lightbulbs and slow tub drainage). Well stocked/supplied for kitchen items, linens, and blankets. Overall the property was clean, but the yard and white doors/trim could have used a good cleaning. We would definitely return to this location over other places we have stayed in Gulf Shores!

Great Beach House! Very clean, roomy and easy access to beach. Pool was cold due to being in shade all the time. Refrig went out but was replaced same day. Beds were comfortable . We had a great stay!
