LOCATION!
OMG. The BEST wide open beach area right behind your home, and those views from all the BIG decks? Oh so awesome! Beachfront. Yeah, THIS is beachfront!
POOL?
You bet! Absolutely. Awesome heatable pool sheltered under the home for a little respite from the hot hot hot of the sun! Private heatable pool. No sharing. 20x10x3-5' Rectangle, and added a propane gas pool heater, so YES the pool is heatable to a maximum of 82-84' (the high side of recommended rec pool temps) to take the chill off! This service is by request in advance with a nightly surcharge that varies by season and is per night for length of stay (the 12 month range has been $65-85 depending on season) gas is expensive right now, this does not actually recoup the cost!). Simply request the pool be heated any time after making the reservation and any time up to at least a few days before check in so we can get it on before you arrive. See our FAQ about heatable pools too. The pool is beachside, in the sun, with an expansive deck area around it, PLUS a nice shaded and sheltered area to escape the heat, right under the home. Nice!
EXTRA FRIDGE (and an ice maker too)
Extra fridge? Of course! Full size extra fridge, right around the corner from the kitchen! Oh, and under counter ice maker too (and one in the fridge... because... ice!).

Um, yeah! BEACHFRONT. Right out the back door. Nothing between you and the water but sand!

There is available onsite parking for 4-6 cars.
WIFI/INTERNET
YES! We have an awesome Eero mesh network to ensure excellent wifi coverage throughout this spacious home. Spotty coverage is always an issue for big places. Sure internet may work next to the router in the living room, but what about the far reaches of the home!? That's why we installed a multi-node mesh network. And what's the internet like? It is generally rock solid and ran > 250Mb down the last test--sufficient for several simultaneous video conference sessions for remote work and education. Internet is, of course, an amenity and subject to service provider outages (and guests "troubleshooting" it), especially with the havoc the sand and salt wreak on cabling and facilities, no more so than any other home on the beach though, and likely better since its close in and new construction!
SOAPS, TOWELS, COFFEE, ETC ETC
As with most beach homes in the area, the local mgt co provide what they call a "starter supply" of soaps, toilet paper, and paper towels, etc. Enough for the first night to get you going! Please plan to bring or purchase additional supplies, and any cleaning or pantry supplies you may need, or to make a quick run to the store (or have it delivered!). You will want to bring beach towels or beach chairs as well. Because mgt cos will not generally support them, grills are not provided, though they are sometimes inherited from prior guests: your mileage may vary on this, and we usually assess and then go snag a small charcoal kettle when we come down ourselves. Also of note: at many locations, you may find the bunk beds (and certain other beds) are not fully made--instead a bedding pack is provided. This is a common practice for the local management companies, which is both green (if the bedding is not used, it doesn't have to be laundered) AND more sanitary--housekeeping does not have to crawl on the bunks and so on to make the beds. Also also... all our homes have drip coffee makers and most now have Keurigs as well.

We do consider well-behaved canine furry friends. This requires owner pre-approval, and is subject to a pet fee (currently $250 per pet). Please inquire. Subject to restrictions which often vary by season. Again, please inquire.
Snowbirds welcome. Inquire for best rates. No smoking please. Kids welcome! Weddings and reunions okay too!
And if Blue Heron is not quite the right size, we own several more homes, bigger, smaller. What do you need? Also also! Blue Heron is only a couple doors east of Dancing Dolphin (and that many west of Egret and Erica's Sandpiper) so you can be close but not too close to other people if that's the way you roll!

We had a wonderful time. The house was great! Its in a perfect location. We spent the days by the ocean and the evenings in the pool. We had 4 boys there under the age of 10 and they cried when we had to leave! No suggestions to improve the house.

I’ll be honest, I’m a little bummed to see that one star went AWOL instead of hanging out with its buddies! 😉 My goal is always to hit that 'exuberant 5' mark, so I’ve been thinking a lot about our conversation regarding the 'starter kits' for supplies.
I totally hear you on the 'time is essence' factor. Most large homes on the Gulf take the starter supply approach—which is why we mention it in our listings and FAQs—but one thing I hadn't considered was explicitly suggesting delivery services. That way, a crew can have exactly the brands and amounts they want, when they want them, without losing a single second of beach time. I'm actually going to start including a list of my own favorite local delivery spots in our check-in info because of your feedback!
I also have to give you a shout-out for the VP-level assist on flagging that flush handle during your stay—it let us jump on it immediately so it didn't get in the way of the fun! 🛠️😉
Most importantly, I’m thrilled your granddaughters had such a blast. At the end of the day, that’s the part that really matters. I can’t even say enough wonderful words to let you know how much we loved staying in your home! It had everything we needed and then some! My daughter even wants us to install one of those ice makers in our house lol!!! It is in an amazing location, it wasn’t crowded on the beach and we were able to simply relax. It was hard to leave! We stayed for all of February in Blue Heron. We LOVED loved loved it! It was very clean and well-stocked on arrival. The management company and owners communicated very well--we knew exactly what to expect and even places to try out for food and coffee. We felt like we had the beach to ourselves, and the views from the decks were incredible! We hope to come back next year! Thank you for having us!

Smooth sailing all the way with this rental! From booking to leaving everything went without trouble. The only thing I can complain about was with the tv being so high in the first floor bedroom I had to get out of bed to change the channel or adjust the volume while holding the remote up in the air. Overall, we loved the place. It was a great fit for our family and met all of our needs. It was nice to go to the pool after a hot day on the beach. The only thing we really noticed is that the house didn't have any spices at all left over from previous guests. Maybe they are always removed, but in all of our previous rentals there's typically been at least table salt. Also, probably worth mentioning that the dishwasher is not screwed in to the counter and had to be pushed back into place a couple times. Neither of those comments is a negative reflection for the blue heron or our experience there. We really had a great time.

We loved the property! The location is great, the beach access is wonderful and the pool is an added plus. The only drawback we experienced was a problem with the main level air our last 2 days. Haleigh had someone come right out to look at it but it continued to run hot. Because of this I rated the property 4 stars. Otherwise our stay was wonderful!

My understanding is that you reported the issue (76 degrees when set at 68) and that we had a third party HVAC co out before end of same day. They apparently fixed it, as you reported it was okay that evening, but, unfortunately, it was back up to 76 in the AM when you reported as you were departing. They came back out and fixed it. 😔 Sadly, sometimes even the pros can take a couple trips, but it sounds like they were super responsive, so I am glad for that! We had a wonderful time at the blue heron. Plenty of room and great location to the beach. However, there were some things that were disappointing. 1. No extra blankets 2. Only one dish towel and kitchen towel3 . Internet’s description of bed situation and location of the beds 4. No beach chairs/towels 5. Bedroom mattresses were horrible in the master and middle bedroom upstairs. Although the above was a disappointment, we still had a great time and would totally come back! The porches were awesome with the Adirondack chairs and table. The doors out each bedroom were a great amenity for each couple. Thanks for the great memories for our family and friends. We hope to come back and enjoy your properties again next year!!

There should have been some extra blankets, and at least a couple kitchen towels and wash clothes, and they should have been happy to bring some out if you were short. Did they?
You also mention the description of the bedding might be... wrong? Not clear? Can you help me find that? I have not had anyone mention that, but want to make sure there isn't something wrong somewhere that might confuse guests!
Finally... you mention that two beds were 'horrible.' Beds are super user specific. I love hard ones, hate anything soft or 'memory' and my wife... the opposite, whereas pillows, I'm a softy, and she likes firm. I think both are because I'm a side/belly sleeper, her... back. Anyway, I can't find any other complaints on our homes mattresses recently, since changing a few, and I wanted to be sure I knew specifically what was horrible? Too soft? Firm? Something else? I won't be back til fall, so I hoped to provide direction to my gang on the ground! But did replace one K upstairs!

Wonderful Stay at Blue Heron

We wanted to let you know about our stay at Blue Heron in Gulf Shores, June 21-28, 2026. It was the best! The booking, reservation, communication and follow up was easy and reassuring.
We were very pleased with the accommodations, which allowed our family of 17, 9 adults and 8 grandchildren ranging from 3-10, to have some much needed family time together! This home provided our family the chance to come together from several locations in Southern Indiana as well as Colorado Springs.
The home was perfect for our needs and the location was fantastic. It was conveniently located, a few miles from Gulf Shores, which was perfect as we had less congestion, and the beach pretty much to ourselves most days. No fighting crowds! The access to the home and beach was as anticipated, just a short walk over the dune and down to the beach and we didn't have to worry about crossing the road. All the adults had their own bedrooms, which was ideal. The girls loved the twin beds in the hallway upstairs!
The views from the balconies were peaceful and relaxing. The tables and chairs provided additional space for the kids to hang out, play games, etc. The kitchen was stocked with most everything we needed. It was great having two refrigerators and we really appreciated the under the counter ice maker! We did have some problems with it not making ice; I texted the Bama Beach House number and received a quick response; the repairman was there the next morning, fixed it and we had ice again by evening. I like my ice in my soft drinks and water and this was a nice plus! We cooked almost every meal together and had plenty of room to move around the kitchen and dining area.
The POOL... I can't tell you how much we appreciated this and the added benefit of having our own private pool. Plus it being under the house and shaded was a bonus. The temperature of the pool was just fine throughout the day. Our grandkids spent most of the day and evening in the pool, they loved it and we loved watching them have so much fun! They would go to the beach for an hour or so and then they were back in the pool. Back and forth all day long! It was great to cool off and get out of the sun. And swimming at nights with the lights, we couldn't get the kids to get out! The outdoor faucets / shower were also very beneficial.
As you can see, I just can't say enough. We were very pleased. We would return to this location again if we decide to return to the Gulf Shores area in the future.

We were incredibly thankful to get a response and approval to book so quick considering we booked day of arrival (running from a vacation hurricane). Before we came, Rick even offered to put us up in another one of his places inland if we arrived here and the hurricane shifted west. The house was perfect to meet our needs and could have held more people. We loved how the 3 upstairs rooms had their own view/balcony access. Master suite was luxury size lol. Pool was great! Parking was easy. Kitchen had everything we needed for cooking meals and had 2 fridges. An exterior elevator would be nice for sending luggage and groceries to the main floor (be prepared to walk up and down a lot of stairs) but that’s the price you pay for the VIEW which is perfect!!

Lots of room. Extra frig is a must with families. Loved that. Huge space for everyone to have a spot of their own if needed. Pool a bonus for us. Only complaint is the sleeping bottom floor there is no A/C in that room. I get that it would be for kids and they probably wouldn’t care but 18 yr old didn’t care for the hot room. Location is perfect. Away from the busy beach. This beach was always quiet. You can enjoy the view all the time. Management was incredible. Very fast response to any questions I had.

Good property, little pricey. The pipes in the showers upstairs had a whistling noise when in use. Also, could use dishtowels and potholders in the kitchen-only one dishtowel was there. No show stoppers, just would be good to look into.

The weather was beautiful 7 out of 9 days! One massive storm that was not too fun. Sand blew from all over and into the pool. One call to the management company and it was taken care of - they were really great. Extremely pleasant! Just like most rentals - some quirks but overall the 6 of us had a great time. A little shore fishing - swimming - sunning and chilling! No problem with beds whatsoever! Very comfortable.

Nice house. Good size rooms. Clean upon arrival and appliances in working order. Beach is nice in this location with tons of shells for the kids to sift through. There is a kettle grill here, but it wasn't in the listing...we brought our own portable though to use. The pool is probably more of a treat in the summer; we paid extra for the heat but the wind tunneled through under the house that made it too breezy for most days.

This property was the perfect size for our family of 16! Plenty of room and great location. The heated pool was perfect for the chillier days. The trash service was great. The only down side we could see was the lack of kitchen supplies. Overall we HIGHLY RECOMMEND this house if you have a bigger group and want to be right on the beach with a heated pool option. Very kid friendly and would stay there again!

Excellent, well equipped and spacious property. There were 9 of us staying in total but could have easily had 1 more family in there. Kitchen and lounge areas v comfortable and house also big enough for all the bedrooms to feel private. Pool was great and respite from the blazing heat of the early afternoon this time of year. Definitely does not need heating in August. Kitchen has everything you need. There was a Weber charcoal BBQ that we also made use of but this was not officially part of the house - so left from previous guests. If you fancy a break from the secluded beach and ocean on the doorstep - then Gulf Shores down to the Florida border has plenty to do. We also went to Alligator Alley just past Foley which the kids loved. Would 100% recommend...

Blue Heron beach house was great as usual! Thank you for all your guidance and help throughout this process. The two issues that we had (toilet not flushing and then a hole in tub) got resolved very quickly once I reached out. Having a four month old this year we were a little worried on how it’d go- but it was great. The setup there is so nice. Thanks again for all your help. I’m glad you’ve been able to enjoy all your family activities and graduation- busy times! We hope to be back sometime in the future!

Stayed with kids and grandkids…. loved being right on the beach! Having a shaded pool was great helping keep the kids from sunburn. The best part of the house was the big decks on several levels. We spent most of our time there. Also really appreciated the easy check in and communication with the rental company. We plan to return!

We loved the house. Check in was simple. We had 7 adults and 7 grandchildren, ages 8 months to 17 years old and we had plenty of room for everyone. The house was right on the beach and the view from the balcony was awesome. We had a minor problem with black ants in the kitchen and laundry room but they sent someone out the next day. Highly recommend!!

The setup in the house was wonderful. The rooms with king beds are all large; it was a perfect setup for three families. The pool was great…we paid to have it heated and I would highly suggest paying to heat it. The management company and owners were VERY NICE and attentive. We have stayed at many rentals, and they were the nicest people I have ever dealt with. I would definitely book there again!

This house was steps from the beach and the layout of the house was great for me without so many steps inside. The kitchen had everything I could imagine and it’s great not to pack my kitchen supplies from home anymore. But my absolute favorite is the back porches. I spent hours there if I didn’t want to be down at the beach or by the pool. I think I may have had to call once for assistance with the air and it was corrected within minutes. This was a special family vacation of 6 adults and 3 young children.We rented from July 16-23, 2022.The house is perfectly located, in a quiet area but not too far from the action.The house is located on the beach, which was large and clean.There is also a private pool on the property, which we all enjoyed after leaving the beach.The 2nd and 3rd floors have oceanfront balconies, perfect for a cool drink and enjoying the gulf breeze. Booking the house was easy and hassle free.The house was clean and there were not any problems with any breakdownsin summary, I would highly recommend the home to families looking for a great beach vacation.

Loved loved this house right on the beach! Location is perfect. House is large, we had 3 families of 4 staying and we had plenty of room. Porch with large table is where we spent most of our time. Pool was a nice touch. Only negatives was some of the fans didn’t work in the restrooms and you couldn’t get in the house earlier than 4pm but first world problems! We enjoyed an almost private beach experience and saw dolphins every day so cannot ask for more!! Thanks for the wonderful stay Blue Heron! We will be back!

Blue Heron is da bomb!!! Best location. Best beach and almost had it privately all to ourselves....on Memorial Day weekend!!! The house was perfect for our family of 11 with plenty of room. But the most prized area is the porches!!!! Morning coffee, sunset cocktails and every meal eaten on the porch!!!! The Blue Heron is located on the most beautiful beach and the views from the thoughtfully provided deck chairs on both first and second levels of the home are unparalleled. Pelicans routinely fly overhead and the ocean sounds are so peaceful. There was easy access to the beach and the beach itself is amazing. The local team, H. and T., are excellent communicators and as is R., the owner. The local team responded within minutes via text to anything we needed and in such a personable and friendly way! Every picture you see of the home is accurate and the numerous windows and small touches in the home (including every kitchen item you might need) make it a great place to stay. We enjoyed our stay a great deal.

This home is a dream location! It gets hundred points for location. Sun, sand and surf with a view of an occasional view of a pod of dolphins. We did additionally rent and pay more for this home for its heated pool, but unfortunately it stopped functioning a day into our stay. The owner tried his level best to get someone out there to fix it but due to the holidays it was not possible, so that was a bummer. All in all we had a great time and would recommend.

The property was as advertised: beautiful, immaculately clean, and well furnished. The pictures and facts were accurate. Communications was clear and prompt. For those trying to figure out exactly where the rooms are, 4 bedrooms on the top floor are all on the north side. The room with the bunks and queen is between 2 of the bedrooms with king beds. The bonus room is on the bottom floor just inside the entry door. We had 1 small issue that was addressed very promptly and it wasn't even that important (no baking sheet or dust pan). Definitely 5/5 and we've stayed in AirBnBs in many places and visited Gulf Shores many times.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Blue Heron in Gulf Shores was a perfect house for us. This house had plenty of bedrooms, beds, bathrooms, refrigerators, seating (inside and outside), and parking. The pool and laundry was used daily. The covered pool was wonderful for coming off the beach and getting out of the sun for the kids. The beach access and outside shower were amazing. The kitchen was fully stocked and the living room was large enough for our family. The contact between Bama Beach House made everything about this rental great. I do have a couple things I would recommend. Couches are in terrible shape. We were cold a few nights and no extra blankets . Also the kitchen needs a few gadgets. Can opener was not good. Pot holders would be great addition. I would still stay here again . It’s a great house and we had a great time. My complaints are minimal. Thanks for everything!

Our stay was perfect. This was a great house, perfect for our huge family get-together where we crammed everyone into one house! We were right on the beach, but only a few minutes drive to town if we needed anything. The pool under the deck was shaded and cool for hot afternoon swims, which was a really nice option on those really hot days! The house was just perfect, and we would absolutely stay here again! Our host, Rick, was very communicative prior to our stay and afterwards followed up with a personal email to check and see how everything went! Thank you!

Thank you for allowing us to rent your home. It was our first time in Gulf Shores and we loved it. The location truly can’t be beat. Watching it storm over the ocean was heavenly. The home had just what we needed and we’d definitely stay there again if we get back to GS.

The property was very close to gulf shores and grocery stores. It was only a short walk to the beach. You can see that the owners are updating the property. The pool was cold do to the heater not working. It was being replaced after we left. Over all one of my favorite places to stay.

We had a great time and were very pleased with everything regarding your home. We felt the management company, the cleaning crew, and you as the owner came through on every promise. We'll certainly provide positive feedback on any future surveys or correspondence regarding our stay. We made every effort to respect your home and left it I believe in pretty good shape for the cleaning crew. We treated it as if it were our own.We're not rich people (both my wife and I work in public education) so this was a once in a decade kind of trip for us. We're very grateful for the experience.

The cleanliness upon arrival was sub par. The dishwasher has major problems. Location was great. AC problem but was immediately fixed with a phone call. Return is very likely.

We had an extended family vacation with our children and parents. The property is in a wonderful location and I would say it was one of the best locations in North America that I have visited. The house was clean and ready for us on our arrival and other than not having a grill there is NOTHING I would change about this property. The balconies are perfect, the beach access is wonderful and we were close to everything the family wanted to do. Having the pool was a must and we never stay at a property that doesn't have the option because even being right on the beach who doesn't like a little night time swim with the family to wind down the day. All things considered I would go a bit later in the spring but, provided this property was available, I would not stay anywhere else in Gulf Shores.

If you are looking for an incredible house that fits a family with small children...this is the one. It was perfect for a large family with small children. Out kids and grandchildren loved it! We walked out the back door and you were on the beach. The pool was great when coming in tired from the beach. The house flowed well for family dining, Our kids gave it 10 stars! We will be back:)

Great location. Great beach. Nice to have the pool as a respite from the sun and beach. Home was eventually quickly cleaned by property management company after a delay. Although, i question how thoroughly it was cleaned as they were in and out of there pretty quickly. Initially, we had poor service from property management company over getting extra towels. Our reservation was not updated for actual amount of people staying in the home and we needed more towels. Simple request, right? Wrong. Took my wife three calls and some choice words regarding the towels before we were told we wouldn't be getting any additional towels and to wash the ones we had. Eventually, they did bring us the additional towels we requested. As I mentioned, the location is great and the homes layout is great too. It is starting to show some wear however. Cabinet knobs broken. Second fridge (which is awesome to have) freezer wont; stay shut. What looks like mold and water damage around all the AC returns on the beach-side of the home. Lack of a grill of any sort at the home is a HUGE bummer when you have a large group.like we did. Overall our trip was great! The home was pretty great. For what we paid for 7 days, I would have expected extra towels to be either in the home already or delivered with no push back from management as well as routine maintenance to be kept up on the home overall. I would also recommend the owner invest in a new mattress for the master bedroom. It looked as if it had been flipped and is now crowned in the middle and very uncomfortable and felt like I would roll out of bed if i wasn't careful.

What a view! A mature house with great bones. Every thing works, nothing needed except a cutting board. Management staff was always close buy. The internet held up great with a couple of IT guys and heavy suffers. AC was great during the hottest week ever. Dip pool is nice, it stays coolish which is great while the gulf is greeting warmer. What sets this house apart is the view. Stayed at other ocean views, this was the closest to the water Great! Also easy on my maturing legs. would recommend and return.

Beach fun! Lots of fun on the beach playing in the sand, water, finding seashells, turtle nests, stingrays, jelly fish but really enjoyed watching the dolphins from the back porch early in the morning drinking our coffee.

Beachfront Paradise. We had an excellent family vacation at the Blue Heron. Eight adults and 10 kids, 15 yrs old to 4 months. Plenty of space, house is awesome. Everyone had their own bed with more sleeping spaces available. Access right to the beach, not crowded, easy to set up and be back and forth for naps, lunches, etc. It literally had everything we needed in the kitchen, laundry room, and extra pillows and blankets. Lots of communication from the property owner on what to expect, check-in and check out process. It was a great experience!!!!

Great views from the balcony! The property served our group of nine with ease. The entire process was seamless. great balcony views! The covered heated pool was clutch on the one chilly, rainy day. We would go back.

Great family trip! The pictures and descriptions of this house were spot on. The house is located in a quieter less crowded area, but not far from all of the action. There was plenty of room for our family of 11. The views from the balcony are awesome and the beach is a short walk from the house. The beach was not crowded at this location. I can’t say enough about how kind and accommodating the owners are. They were great to work with and I wouldn’t hesitate to rent from them again! Thanks for sharing your house with us.

Beach home away from home. Owners are beyond responsive and helpful; amazing hosts! Access to the beach is fabulous...house has all the necessities and rooms are spacious and views beautiful. House could use some updating, but overall exactly what we were looking for!
