These homes are always full. We own Emerald, Sapphire and Diamond, all right next door to each other. Sapphire and Emerald are the identical 12BRs. More of...more! Get two. 24 bedrooms. Why not?! Diamond (10BR) too. Side x side x side! 34 bedrooms... All 3 were fully booked last summer and all the major holidays almost a year in advance, sometimes two for our repeat guests! Act quick!
Emerald is a 12 bedroom family-friendly luxury beach home located directly on the beach in an exclusive, gated community with zero-entry pools. Handicapped accessible features. Elevators. Community firepit. The perfect vacation home for large groups, or small ones that like lots of space!
There are 3 beach side living rooms, one on each floor, in this home. Need a beverage? There are wet bars with mini-fridges and stand-alone ice-makers in the second and third floor living rooms so you can save yourself the trip down the stairs (or elevator!). Each floor also has its own washer and dryer because when you are on vacation why would you want to carry your clothes up and down the stairs (or in the elevator) more than you absolutely have to!?

In addition to the zero-entry community pool located right across the drive from the home, the home also has its own private, elevated dipping pool at living room level. Dipping does NOT mean itty bitty. Its a 20x12x3.5' Rectangle. Sit in your living room, watch your kids play in the pool outside, how cool is that!? Or enjoy that beverage overlooking the gulf!
And we added a gas pool heater to the deck pool, so YES the pool is heatable to a maximum of 84 (the high side of recommended rec pool temps) to take the chill off! This service is by request in advance with a per night surcharge for length of stay (gas is expensive right now, this does not actually recoup the cost!). Fee subject to change due to incredibly high gas rates right now. You may add it after booking by simply requesting the pool be heated any time after making the reservation and at least a few days before check in so we can get it on before you arrive. See our FAQ about heatable pools too.
TWO REFRIGERATORS
Two? Yes two. Because you won't want to stay somewhere without an extra fridge once you have had them. And mini-fridges in wet-bar areas on the other floors too! Plus.. 2 dishwashers.
PARKING
You can park 5-6 mid to full size vehicles in front and under the home. In addition, there are multiple overflow parking areas in the Cottages neighborhood, conveniently located nearby, not miles away! "Street parking" is not allowed -- parking in areas other than at the home and in the overflow parking areas -- per the HOA rules, and NO buses, trailers, or RVs are allowed to park anywhere in the community.
WIFI/INTERNET? YOU BET!
YES! We have an awesome Eero multi-node mesh network fed by fiber optic for up to 1GB speeds (and we typically see 750+ in real world line speed tests at the home) to ensure excellent wifi coverage throughout this spacious home. Spotty coverage is always an issue for big places. Sure internet may work next to the router in the living room, but what about the far reaches of the home!? That's why we installed a multi-node mesh network. And what's the internet like? It is generally solid. Internet is, of course, an amenity and subject to service provider outages (and guests "troubleshooting" it), especially with the havoc the sand and salt wreak on cabling and facilities, no more so than any other home on the beach though, and likely better since its close in and new construction!
ELEVATOR? YES!
Emerald has a residential elevator. This can be super helpful. The elevator entry, for those who might need to know for wheelchair and similar assistance, is 33".
Of note, the main level bedroom's bathroom has a zero-entry (no lip) shower with a 38" opening.
Please be mindful that elevators in homes are NOT commercial elevators like in hotels and so on. These are small elevators more akin to what you find in other countries and in big city apartments. They are not meant for kids running around, in and out of them, and using them for games. So do not be surprised if something happens. Most commonly, a door is left open, or people walking into and out of them a bunch of times (which can cause them to lock out). And if 12 bedrooms is just a little too big for you, check out Diamond, a 10 bedroom home right next door, or any of our other wonderful family-owned homes. Emerald and Sapphire are identical 12 BR units, so if you want to sleep up to 88, well, that d do it! Or over 115 in all 3!
Please note that the Cottages at Romar neighborhood association has determined that no weddings or special events may be hosted in the property. This is applicable to our Jewels by the Sea. However, although you cannot host weddings or special events at the Diamond, Emerald, or Sapphire, you certainly can stay there during your trip and enjoy these large homes, their luxury, and the terrific neighborhood amenities.
GRILL
Yes. There is a direct-plumbed gas grill for your use.
SOAPS, PAPER and BEACH TOWELS, COFFEE ETC ETC
As with most beach homes in the area, the local mgt co provide what they call a "starter supply" of soaps, toilet paper, and paper towels, etc. Enough for the first night to get you going! Please plan to bring or purchase additional supplies, and any cleaning or pantry supplies you may need, or to make a quick run to the store (or have it delivered!). All bed linens and bath towels are provided (bath towels, we provide 1.25* the MAX Guests (not however many you reported). That's a lot, like more than 55 for 44 people; however, if you plan to 'pack the house' AND expect to use more than one towel per person, then may want to bring some more. You will want to bring beach towels or beach chairs as well. Also also... all our homes have both drip coffee makers and Keurigs as well.
You ll love staying at the Emerald at the Cottages at Romar. You ll wish you never had to go home. If you don t book early, you ll stop by wishing you could be here.
We have a number of smaller places as well, and also bigger: like taking 2 sides of a very nice duplex to get 20 (twenty!) bedrooms.

This was our 3rd straight year staying at the Bama beach house at Gulf Shores. I am amazed how well maintained the Emerald house was. We have stayed at many other locations throughout the years, but this surpasses them all. Ownership is very responsive to recommended improvements and special needs. Their maintenance team response to issues is outstanding. A rare occurrence these days. Needless to say, we are already committed for next year.<br /><br /><i>[🥰 Thank you Timothy! Three straight summers at the Emerald and already locked in for a fourth — that's the highest compliment a host can get. This was an amazing beach house, 12 bedrooms, unlimited space. Not one thing was broken or in disrepair. We had 15 people there the max is 44, lol so we had plenty of room. Right on the beach, plenty of parking, access to many restaurants, shops, etc. 3 refrigerators, ice maker, just an amazing place we will be back. They have other options for smaller groups and Richard and his team were easy to work with, all questions were met with immediate response. Just amazing!!!!!!

Emerald was great for our large family and we would book again. On the beach and has a small pool. Internet was a problem since some needed to work and had to go to Starbucks to get connected. Management responded quickly to our inquiries.

Clean home. Excellent hosts, quick responses and so nice! Everything was set up nicely on each floor. Private pool was clean with plenty of seating. Also there is a nice community pool. Easy walk to beach! Love our stay and will do it again!

We rented The Emerald at the Cottages at Romar for Spring Break and had an awesome time. We had 7 families with 31 total people and it never felt crowded. Being right on the beach is amazing because you are only a few steps away. There is onsite beach service through Ike's Beach Service which made it really easy to enjoy the beach. The restaurants in the area were really good. We would highly recommend the house for a large groups or family reunions.

Our family had a wonderful week in your house. The house had 12 bedrooms and our 23 family could spread out. Very attractive house with large deck including a pool.Younger kids lived in the pool when not at the beach. Our family loved it and want to come back. I rotate locations, so next beach vacation I will be contacting you. We loved the large deck and pool.

I can't say enough positive - it was a fabulous vaca!!! The communications in advance were wonderful - clear - no surprises - the location is superior. So easy to be there. Everything was Great! We had an issue with the stove. Within 3 hrs. a maintenance person arrived and fix it. Unfortunately, the fix didn't work. Once we reported the problem, they advised a replacement stove would be installed the next day, and they did. Our family has been booking houses every summer for the last 15 years. This was the best in resolving maint issues.

Our family of 16 recently stayed at the Emerald and we were blown away with the beautiful home and everything it has to offer. Right away we noticed the cleanliness, the abundance of everything needed (3 refrigerators, 3 dishwashers, washers and dryers, kitchen areas on upper levels), dishes, silverware, cooking utensils, and comfortable and inviting furniture. Our family of 16 included 8 adults and 8 children … we had plenty of room to spread out and not get in anyone’s way! On the top 2 floors were sitting areas, which included a bathroom, that allowed one to get away to read or just look out at the ocean view. A sliding glass door gave access to a balcony, if you desired to be outside. We spent lots of time on the porch, which included many places where the adults could sit as the smaller kids enjoyed the pool. We also took advantage of the community pool when we were not at the beach. A large pool with different depths … averaging from walking into the pool to 6’. Did we have any cons? Absolutely NOT! Don’t hesitate. Book this beautiful home … you will not be disappointed!

We absolutely loved everything and every minute of our vacation. Your house was over the top perfection!! Not one argument that I heard about. I totally understand about sliding doors and that weather I cannot imagine how much work it must take to keep that house in such great condition. We loved the separate living spaces on each floor. The ice machine and washer/dryer on every floor was over the top. It was just perfect. The pool was great when you wanted to cool off but not be in the ocean. I can’t say enough nice things about your place. Thank you!

We're recovering from an excellent week.
The accommodations were excellent and our family was very comfortable! We had amazing weather and even spotted a few pods of dolphins through the week.
I certainly was dreading going back to work today instead of waking up at the beach!

Everything was great. The house was clean and ready for us to occupy. There was plenty of space for everyone to enjoy comfortably and the view was incredible. We would definitely stay here again. The staff was very responsive and left us a nice welcome gift.

We were a family of 17--all adults. Everyone had their own room/bath which was wonderful! 1/2 baths on every floor, too! The great room on the main floor was perfect for our meals that we cooked and loved the big, long table where everyone could enjoy their meals together. Location is spectacular! Looking out at the pool and beach was wonderful. The kitchen was well stocked with everything that you would need including plates and utensils. Anyone looking for the perfect beach getaway should book the Emerald!

We had a fantastic family/friend vacation in this beautiful gated community. Communication between the owners and Southern Beach Rental Agency was seamless. It was extremely hot the week we stayed. We did have issues with the ice makers not keeping up, but we have 40 people in and out. It took one simple text to SBR and they had someone over in an hour to take a look. We had family from out of the country with us and they ended up staying an extra day, which prompted us to want to say with them. I called the owners to see if we could extend the time and late check out. Lucky for us the rental was open and the owners helped us out so we were able to spend another day and a half with family. Great experience! Can't wait to plan another trip!

Beautiful home.....great location on the beach. The house can accommodate 40 people but we had 28 with adults and kids. The house has a great layout, 3 living rooms for people to spread out, bedrooms with bunks and king size beds. The pool and deck provide nice activity area and views. Great place to vacation.

We had a large group of 18, ages 2 to 66! This home fit us perfectly. We had bedrooms to spare! The private pool was a huge hit as well as the beautiful community pool directly across the street! The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed. Very comfortable beds!! Extremely good communication with the host. Always got right back with us if we had a question. Fantastic location close to everything you could possibly need! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!!

Our stay in your family’s beach house was wonderful. Lovely home with plenty of room, and yes we have stayed in sapphire I think twice and also diamond. I do love jewels. The management was pleasant and helpful. We will definitely try to use your accommodations in the future.

Beautiful home, The Emerald. We love the house, as it accommodates our large family very nicely. This was our second year staying there and rented it again next year.
Things we love:
The large open living area. We gather there for every meal and for family camaraderie in the evening.
The ice makers! (Some work better than others).
The three large refrigerators.
The elevator. We have several elderly and in-firmed people in our group that required the elevator.
The proximity to the beach.
The pool is wonderful and very well maintained.
The washers and dryers on each floor.
The air conditioners worked very nicely.
Things we'd improve... We would love if you would put beds ( or at least a pullout sofa) in the two beach facing living rooms on the third and fourth floors. As living rooms, they are of no use to us.
We were all well pleased with the house again!

Wonderful beach home! We stayed here to celebrate our parents 60th wedding anniversary and it did not disappoint. The home was even better than I had expected. Very clean, great location and plenty of space. Quick responses from the management team and owner. If you are considering this home book it, you will not be disappointed. The only thing I wish was different is that we would have stayed longer! We will definitely be returning.

This home fit us very well! The pictures do not do it justice. We had 10 kids ages 5 to 16 and 15 adults with plenty of room to spare. The kitchen is amazing with 2 refrigerators, 2 microwaves 3 dishwashers, an island with a sink, built in ice maker. Plenty of seating for everyone at the tables. We were there for 8 nights, made many meals and had what we needed. The 8 king suites with everyone having their own bathroom worked great. Laundry, fridge and ice maker on each level. The 4 jack and jill bunk bedrooms worked perfectly for my grandkids. I am so happy my son found this home and we were able to create so many awesome memories at an area we never knew existed. And I have been to many beaches but never have I walked so much on the softest sugar sand right out the door! We will definitely come back! Thank you for such an amazing vacation! Lynette

What a beautiful house, and so spacious! And the private pool was wonderful for our 13 adults and 8 grandkids! With little kids the extra washers/dryers were much appreciated. (The washer on the main living floor did stop working the day before we left.) Lots of refrigerators really helped us since we cooked every meal in the house- where do you get a reservation for 21 people- ages 1-72 ?!?! And lots of places to play, watch TV, do puzzles... just spread out... We could not have loaded and unloaded all the luggage and groceries without that elevator!!!! I love how close it was to the beach and of course that sand is perfect! Some days the seaweed was pretty thick, but there is nothing anyone can do about that. Being close to stores, souvenir shops, etc. was a bonus. Your support folks were very attentive!

We have just returned from our stay (April 2022) we had great weather and a great experience at this house~ What a wonderful family vacation!! The home was so spacious and comfortable, we loved the pool overlooking the beach . We had 8 families with children ranging from 5-19! The room layout worked out perfectly! There were 3 refrigerators, 3 dishwashers, laundry on every level, as well as a wet bar and mini fridge on the two upper levels. The elevator made getting our belongings up and down easy..the 3rd and 4th floors also had additional living rooms, with TV and private bathroom, for those times you wanted to get away from the group...lol...The home was so accommodating, spacious, comfortable and nice for a large group! The kitchen and dining room set up as well as the outdoor seating was perfect for our group of 36! Our kids also loved walking across from the house to the community pool. The general location was great and close to many stores, restaurants, etc. We are planning a trip back for sure!

Stayed in both Emerald and Sapphire: Our vacation was a blast as always and everyone really enjoyed the homes. We had over 90 people this time around so we ended up renting another smaller home in the community. Most likely be renting the 2 houses again for the full week and possibly even your third home. My cousins from other states saw our photos and would like to join us moving forward!

We had a great stay! We went 4-1 in the tournament, losing in bracket play to a larger school in Arkansas. We played well and had a blast at the house and the beach. The house was great! It was clean, had plenty of space for our team, and was a great place for us to bond as a baseball team. I took my family with us as well, and they loved it. I think we took really good care of the house! The only issue we had is that a small piece of wood in one bed frame snapped when a kid sat on the bed, but I'm guessing it was already broken and should have been an easy fix for the maintenance crew. The management crew was fine - we really never needed them except a couple very minor maintenance issues (door handle and towel rod).... Again, we really enjoyed the house and the beach. It was perfect for our team! Thank you so much for working with us on booking the house. We may be coming back again next year or very soon (time to start discussing the future trips)!

We had an amazing time. The house and beach are beautiful. The kitchen was very well stocked. We were super impressed with the management company. We did have to call as the sliding door wouldn’t lock and the elevator stopped working and we had a clogged sink. They sent technicians right away and were very friendly.

It was great! Your home was perfect for our large family to celebrate our parents 60th wedding anniversary. No complaints at all. Loved there were plenty of bathrooms sometimes with large groups there are not enough bathrooms but not this trip! The only issue was the ice machine on the 3rd floor was missing but not a problem at all. Any questions or concerns were very quickly responded to and resolved. Everything was excellent except for the kitchen. Could have used instructions on oven/stove. No way there was enough for 44 people to eat there. Had to call for more cups. 1 dish towels is not enough for that kitchen and the cooking utensils were minimal. Pots were great but lacked baking dishes (13x9). Bedroom were wonderful, deck great. Would suggest markings the steps better. Easy not to see, all same color. Would stay again!!

Very enjoyable just some equipment problems. Regular microwave broken . The left us a tiny one . Said they were fixing the other . We had to go buy our own . Can’t survive a week with toddlers , infants and family with tiny microwave. Tripped a breaker couldn’t find box called left message call never returned. Upstairs washer broken . Kitchen ok. Buy all your soaps, etc paper towels. Other GS locations we have stayed provided all of these. No big deal . Loved the deck , pool , all rooms, climate control, location, neighborhood, clean, great trip .

The house was awesome and the beach was beautiful. There was plenty of room for everyone to lounge around the house or the pool or the beach. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation, you need to spend a week at Emerald at the Cottages at Romar.

This place was amazing. Large enough to accommodate 18 kids and 20 adults. We never felt like we were in each other’s way and the main living area and kitchen was perfect for night time hangs. Maintenance and management were quick to respond when we ran into an issue with the stove. The beach was literally in our backyard and we had no issues finding a spot to set up for the day. The owners were amazing with post stay check in and truly made you feel like they valued your feedback. I highly recommend this house. You won’t regret it!

We could tell by the online walk thru it would be great, but the common space can only be appreciated by being there. We had two nagging concerns before arriving. Would the pool be too easily accessible, and was there enough seating to eat together? But neither was justified. And there's more parking spaces than they told us. Looks like 10 could fit under and next to the building. Also, there's a shared 1/2 bath on the main level I didn't see in the floor plan.

We had a nice stay. Highlights of the trip- Location. Loved being directly on the beach. Size. Everyone had their own bedroom and bathroom. Management co and pool service were A plus. Friendly, professional, timely. Pool and outside area were so nice and great for children and adults were happy in the shade. The multiple refrigerators were so nice to have because we were coming with contents from our emptied out freezers from home. It was so helpful to check in early and you added on another night and we are appreciative of that.

We had around 20 family members staying , all ages..Could not have asked for a more beautiful home to stay in.....right on the beach, the younger children had a great time playing in the pool just their size. enough room for everyone to spread out.... Beds were all oh so comfortable, eveyone commented. The view of the ocean from the main living area was Awesome... Kitchen was huge, 2 refrigerators and another side by side ref on the down stairs entry level. Held 5 full days of meal preps for us plus drinks for all week..Ice makers all floors. Everyone commented on what a beautiful home this was... Would love to come back !!!

The house was fantastic and a great time was had by all. The location was perfect. Only had to contact the local management company once about the microwaves as one was smoking and the other sparked while we tried to use them. Other than that there were no issues. Everyone made it home safe and sound. We hope to come again next year.

The house was really nice and in a good area. If you go East it gets a little congested with traffic but there’s grocery stores and anything else you may need. West takes you to another touristy area and gives you access to the toll bridge so you’re able to move around easily if you want. The beach is really close, and the pool area was nice. No issues with any neighbors, honestly we couldn’t hear anyone. The house provided a lot of essentials, they specify in emails. Only negative was that the elevator did not work nor could the maintenance man get it operating. I would book with them again though.

2 bathrooms on 3rd floor were not clean. I didn’t find out about until fifth day. Tried to call Meyer. Have stayed in Emerald2 and Sapphire x1 Meyer was attentive to our needs when we were able to get through.

We love the location. A house was a perfect size for the 35 people in our family. The house was clean but had some items in need of repair. The pool heater broke after the second day and with the cool weather the pool was too cold. Many television channels did not work in the bedrooms. Over all we had a wonderful experience the upkeep on the house could be much better

We enjoyed our stay very much. The house was much bigger than our needs but it planted the seeds of having more of our family join us the next time. The pool on the deck outside the main living area was great for relaxing and spending time with the kids. The location is perfect as it close to entertainment activities but not so close as to be in a crowded area. This was our first time to the Gulf Shores area and Orange beach was perfect. Beautiful beach and not crowded. We will definitely consider coming again.

A Last Minute Escape from Dallas! We had a terrific stay, booked very last minute due to a team cancellation at the property due to CoronaVirus. The location is amazing, the private beach was very empty. The main level balcony with plunge pool was a terrific place to spend a few hours every day. This was our first time to Orange Beach, loved the set up and spaciousness of the house and will certainly return! We had a total of 13 people - 7 kids and 6 adults, but the house is well suited for much larger groups. We met the owner and he is a great person, easy to work with. Thank you for a great escape from Dallas!
