The gulf is directly across the road. There s nothing standing between you and the water except West Beach Blvd, and then you come back home for your own private dip in the pool! AND, you get to the beach, crossing the road, at a CROSSWALK right at the corner of our property. Easy...
Sea Urchins is across from the 12th street public beach access so there is no home across from our house and no need to wander through private property to reach a beach access point! It’s just about perfect for folks who want to save a bit but be just about "right on the beach"!
Each side of the duplex is a 5 bedroom and 5 bath unit. All homes start on the "2nd" or main floor, as every home in the beach area is "on stilts" by code, so living space starts on the second level.
2nd Floor, BR 1: King + Twin Bunk, en suite bathroom
(note, this bedroom's bath also serves as a common bath for the living room, through a separate entrance)
3rd Floor, South BR 2: King, en suite bathroom
3rd Floor, Middle BR 3: Queen + Twin Bunk, bath directly across hall
3rd Floor, Middle BR 4: Bunk Room, sleeping up to 7! Twin over Full Bunk (1+2) + Full over Full Bunk (2+2), second bath directly across hall
3rd Floor, North BR 5: King, en suite bath
There is also a 2nd Floor Living Room QSS in case you need extra space.
Please note that although the 3rd floor middle bedrooms do not have en suite baths, they CAN be completely treated as private to the bedrooms across from them. That is, eac h bedroom can have its own "private" bath since its a one to one, bedroom to bath mix!
3500 square feet of living space, is professionally decorated, makes extensive use of tile and crown molding, and includes granite kitchen countertops and much more. Each unit has a master suite.

Electronics abound in these homes: excellent mesh wifi internet, smart TVs populate these stylish, yet comfortable, units. EACH unit has TWO refrigerators. If you haven’t stayed in a vacation home with these extras, you’ll find out what you’ve been missing and never want to stay somewhere without them! From kid’s drinks to adult beverages to lots of leftover shrimp, having the extra space is a must for the well-seasoned travelers.
Because of high demand during the summer season, the units are available for full week stays only: in the end, though, don’t you really deserve a whole week of rest, relaxation, and fun!

Yes, each side of Sea Urchins has its own pool! 27x12x3-5' Rectangle. Big! In the sun! Lots of room to lounge.
BEACH ACCESS?
Like being beach front, but not paying for beachfront! The public beach is right across the street from Sea Urchins AND there is a pedestrian crosswalk, with signage and light, right off the corner of our place! Easy beach access... without paying beachfront prices!
WIFI/INTERNET
YES! We have an awesome Eero mesh network to ensure excellent wifi coverage throughout this spacious home. Spotty coverage is always an issue for big places. Sure internet may work next to the router in the living room, but what about the far reaches of the home!? That's why we installed a multi-node mesh network. And what's the internet like? It is generally solid and ran > 250Mb down the last test--sufficient for several simultaneous video conference sessions for remote work and education. Internet is, of course, an amenity and subject to service provider outages (and guests "troubleshooting" it), especially with the havoc the sand and salt wreak on cabling and facilities, no more so than any other home on the beach though, and likely better since its close in and new construction!
SOAPS, TOWELS, COFFEE, ETC ETC
As with most beach homes in the area, the local mgt co provide what they call a "starter supply" of soaps, toilet paper, and paper towels, etc. Enough for the first night to get you going! Please plan to bring or purchase additional supplies, and any cleaning or pantry supplies you may need, or to make a quick run to the store (or have it delivered!). You will want to bring beach towels or beach chairs as well. Because mgt cos will not generally support them, grills are not provided, though they are sometimes inherited from prior guests: your mileage may vary on this, and we usually assess and then go snag a small charcoal kettle when we come down ourselves. Also of note: at many locations, you may find the bunk beds (and certain other beds) are not fully made--instead a bedding pack is provided. This is a common practice for the local management companies, which is both green (if the bedding is not used, it doesn't have to be laundered) AND more sanitary--housekeeping does not have to crawl on the bunks and so on to make the beds. Also also... all our homes have drip coffee makers and most now have Keurigs as well.
No smoking please, but feel free to eat lots of shrimp, bask in the warm sun, and have a great time!

When we got to the beach house it was honestly even better than we had expected! The property was so clean, the decor was updated, There were so many places to sit and watch the sun come up on the large porches! The rooms were very large! The bedrooms had enough space to let you escape to your room when you get over stimulated ( ) we loved having a bathroom for each bedroom! Would definitely recommend this home and stay in this home again!

We had the best time every. The house was amazing and beautiful and very clean. And when we had questions about different things, our host answered promptly and was very informative. Our 4 year old wanted to live there forever. We would definitely stay there again.

We had a great time.... We enjoyed the space, the living room/dining/kitchen was a great area. We liked the size of the bedrooms and the bunk room. It was very clean, which I appreciate. All in all it was a nice trip.

Great escape from our northern weather (ND area... so any warmth is good warmth!). Sea Urchins was a wonderful place to land. Everything was clean, and the kitchen was well stocked for us to cook--even had sharp knives! Loved having the exxtra fridge too! See you next year--can't wait! :-)

Saved the first family vacation ever!

Our first family vacation ever with all kids and grandkids. We had 8 adults and 5 kids with plenty of room including 4 vehicles. Going to the beach was easy as the house is literally right by the cross walk to the beach access. With little ones that was important. The owners provided timely communication preparing us for our trip. Gulf Shores was not on our radar as our plans changed due to unexpected construction on the home we were initially renting at cape San blas Florida. We will definitely come back again.

Great stay, lots of beds! Close to beach! Had two fridges which came in handy. Dryer sometimes needed two cycles, but workable.

Usually its just the dryer vent line needing to be blown out. With the massive amount of towels and clothes folks wash each week, it can catch up with us, even though we do them all before peak season, and just needs a quick clean out. We are here for you! Had a great time and hope to be back soon! Positives: 1. Your property was clean, and has been, for the most part, maintained well. 2. The proximity to the beach was superb! 3. Having a swimming pool was a great addition (especially for the grandkids!). 4. And having 2 refrigerators was really an added "plus!" 5. Also, the fact that there were 5 bedrooms, with each one having their own bathroom was a wonderful help to our family. 6. We appreciated the quick response to our need for more forks. It was good to know that the owners were serious about meeting any needs that we might have---and in a timely fashion. Probably the most negative thing was that there were several items that were either missing, or in woefully low supply in the kitchen. Particularly forks, but you all fixed that immediately. In summary, we would definitely book your property again, and we had a wonderful family vacation at your home!

Excellent communication! I greatly appreciated all of the details provided from the host, and they went out of their way to reach out when we had to unexpectedly cancel. Fortunately we had purchased travel insurance, but again, the responsiveness was top notch. We will be looking to book with them again in the near future.

Great location. Nice pool. I had to call for a few items...working vacuum, large serving bowls and baking sheets. Julianna delivered them within an hour. Excellent response time. Could have used a hose at the outside shower but just borrowed from the south unit. Overall, a great house and the family enjoyed the vacation!

The house, Sea Urchins North, is great. This was our 2nd stay and we will definitely be back. It is very spacious and comfortable for our large family. Everything was clean and exactly as expected. The pool was wonderful and we enjoyed the short access to the beach. Rick and Bama Beach Houses are always great to work with and responds very quick throughout the rental process.

We had a FABULOUS vacation!
We found the house nice and clean with everything in a very obvious place. We appreciated the 2 fridges with all the time we spend on the beach. There wasn’t anything we wanted/needed that we didn’t easily find in the home except storage containers. Silly thing to need, I realize, but that was something we would’ve loved to have. It would NEVER keep us from recommending your house. It is beautiful.

Loved our stay and had a great time! Only one item that I think you could address is that the light in the pool that was not working in 2020 is still out. It would add so much to an evening spent by the pool. We will return to Gulf Shores in the next year or two and be in touch.

So, about that pool light... it is actually not "still" out. :-) I confirmed with the pool guys it was repaired and has been working, so I think it was one of those coincidences when it happened to be out again... They are going to check it. FWIW, if its not working for you when you come back, or if _anything_ is amiss, ever, just shoot me or Bama Beach Houses a note during the stay and we can have it checked asap. If I remember correctly, it also involves two switches, an annoying design that is present in a couple of my places that was supposed to make it 'convenient' but confuses people two. In any event, we can help with it next time! They are pretty good about same day/next day service as long as whatever is needed is available, and happy to come out so the kiddos (and adults) can have a lit pool!

The house was clean and in a great location. Directly across the street from beach access. The pool was clean and had a nice shaded area. Everything we needed was available. There was even a charcoal grill that was not expected. The only downfall we had was the main floors A/C could not keep up. It stayed above 75 the entire time. We even kept all the shades closed to not let sun in. But, we were on the go and in and out of the pool so it wasn’t too bad. Overall, great vacation and I would stay here again.

Our group had a great weekend. We think the Sea Urchins North property was perfect. It’s a well-planned and constructed home. It is furnished nicely. Its location in Gulf Shores was perfect. Ample parking was a bonus. It met our needs and the entire process from beginning to end went smoothly, with no hitches. I don’t have any suggestions for you.

Amazing!! We stayed for a week at sea urchins and had the best trip ever! The location was PERFECT. Just right across from the beach access and walking distance to multiple stores, ice cream, coffee shops and more. Had plenty of room to gather and all hangout in the living rooms. Overall the place was very clean and exactly what was shown online. Lots of parking, which was great for our multiple cars, seating around the pool, and the porches were an amazing place to sit and hangout. Great memories were made and we are sure to return to the place we made home for a week!

This was the perfect place for our families to vacation. We had 8 adults and 10 kids and we had plenty of space. The walk to the beach was so easy and made the trip that much better. There are a few things that need to be fixed around the house but nothing big enough to not plan on returning next year!

Sea Urchin North was perfect for our family. The proximity to the beach (without the cost) and the private pool was much enjoyed. We appreciated the open living area so everyone could spend time together. The beds were comfortable and kitchen nicely furnished. Having a shaded place to park our cars was a plus. We loved this place! Well equipped, great location. Would stay here again and again! Place is much bigger than photos show. There are 5 bedrooms, all have access to a porch! 2 king rooms with attached bathrooms, 1 king room with single bunk bed, 1 queen room with single bunk bed, bunk room with 2 bunk beds. Well kept! Quiet, never heard neighbors, great parking. Just loved it!

We loved your home. It was in a great location , we loved being that close to the beach. We loved having two refrigerators. The air conditioning was probably the best out of any beach house we’ve ever rented. We’ve been renting a house every summer now for about 16 years, so that’s really saying something. The pool was great as well. The only problem we encountered was , the Wi-Fi kept going out . We didn’t find it annoying enough to contact the management company , but it did go out several times. Other than that , our stay was perfect. Will DEFINITELY look at your properties when we book for next summer. Have already recommended your site to friends.

We’ve never had a stay with more helpful management and owners. We went down while the owners were moving heaven and earth to make their units available after the hurricane. Everyone communicated with us throughout and even provided additional nights when we were under mandatory evacuation for the second hurricane. Owners are genuinely good people who are gracious to open up their properties and provide families the opportunities to make memories. The properties are phenomenal for beach access and amenities. Pools are great. Really cannot say enough good things or recommend more strongly.

The place was awesome. We had plenty of space for our family. I liked the private pool and area because of all this Covid . The beach was great also, everyone social distanced in the area. Overall our stay was wonderful.... We enjoyed our stay and hope to Come back next summer.

Our family really enjoyed this place. We loved being right across the street from the beach (the street was busier than we expected). The kids loved the pool and it was so nice to have a private pool! Be mindful that the porches (which are so nice) run together with the other 1/2 of the house. We were lucky that the other side was vacant and are glad that we had the north side instead of the south as there is not a gate to keep little ones out of the pool area in the south unit. We found that out when our 1 year old granddaughter meandered over to that side. All in all, it was a great time. The bathroom for every bedroom was a wonderful feature that we will just HAVE to have for all future family vacations! A glass coffee carafe broke while washing and they had a replacement brought within hours! We would definitely stay here again!

Our house was perfect for my family and friends! The Lay-out allowed everyone to have their own room and some space away from others when needed. Everything was in working order including the ice machines in both fridges which was something we have always had problems with in past homes. Check in and check out was a breeze. Would definitely stay again!

The house overall was fantastic! The location to the beach was great, kitchen was stocked, beds comfortable. The only negatives were the bathtubs were hard for older people to get in and out of along with hard to bath the little babies with the shower doors. Would suggest a walk in shower on the main floor and a tub upstairs without shower doors. Also the bed upstairs needs to be bigger it was a double and needs to be queen at least. The ice makers in the fridges didn’t work but the water did. Liked having two fridges. Also the porch is open on both levels to the other unit and I didn’t like that upstairs with my granddaughter in the bunk room if you walked out her door to the porch the neighbors door faced you with. We kept the door locked but I would suggest sometime if door on the deck to block the two houses off. All and all I would recommend. It was very clean and a great location.

The Sea Urchin was a great house for our family of 11. 3 minute walk to the beach, large living area, every bedroom had access to there own bathroom, and a clean, well maintained house and pool. The location is close to stores and restaurants. We definitely plan on staying there again!

We had a great time at your place! Only things I can think of are that there are 2 of the bathrooms upstairs that don't have stoppers for the bathtubs. We have small kids and just had to reroute to different bathrooms to take baths. Very minor I know but only thing we noticed really. House was great, location is awesome. Thanks for having us!

We had a great time at this property - grandparents, two sets of parents, and 6 kids - mostly teens - and we all had plenty of space to spread out with beds for everyone. We even had an early visit from a representative with some chocolate goodies to welcome us! The outdoor rocking chairs are fantastic and we loved having the pool. Mother nature didn't allow us much time at the ocean last week with rip tides and massive amounts of algae and kelp ... so it was nice to still have the ability to get in the water. A bike path along the bay was perfect for morning walks. The only thing I might recommend the owners consider doing in the future is changing the seating for dining - while there were ample dishes, having everyone at two different tables and a bar top was not quite ideal. I'd love to see a long 12 seat table in place of the two tables that were there. But that's just a recommendation, not a necessity. Thanks for the great memories!

This was our fist time in Gulf Shores and we booked the perfect house. Sea Urchins North is located right across the street from beach access which made is easy for us to get our family to/from the beach. The house is also located past the high rise condos so finding a spot on the beach to set up was very easy, but it is close enough (5 minute drive) to the Hangout.

We enjoyed the spacious bedrooms and full kitchen. All of my kids with their families had their own space & bathroom. We enjoyed the closeness and ease of accessing the beach. Didn't have to fight the condo crowd for beach area. The pool area was great. My infant grandson was able to spend some time outside under the patio. The kids spent a lot of time in the pool when not at the beach. It was everything we had been looking for.

We had such a great vacation and the house was in the best location - right across the street from beach access. We were able to have our family cornhole tournament under the house. There was plenty of room, parking and the pool was perfect. The pool is about 5-6 ft deep on one end for anyone who wants to know that. I think the description says there is a Keurig in the kitchen but there was not. Other than that, we had everything we needed. Overall, it could have been cleaner - mainly the kitchen and bathrooms. We did have to contact maintenance for a leaking AC but they were friendly, prompt and fixed the issue quickly. We easily crossed the street with the kiddos to go to the beach. We ordered groceries for delivery and pizza as well as brought our smoker and cooked out. There were also pool and beach items in the storage for our use. Overall a great place to stay!

Loved our stay! The beach is as close as you can get without being beachfront & had such easy access! The house held our family well & was very clean! My only suggestion to owners would be to keep a baby gate available & maybe even a high chair most families have kids and it would be a helpful touch! Loved the chocolates that were delivered such a sweet and personal treat! Wish our trip wasn’t cut short because of the hurricane but we enjoyed this house and will definitely visit again!

The house is lovely, big enough for our 16 guests with a great location: can’t find a much better spot on the strip. It needs a little TLC, with some railing repairs and broken chairs, but we stayed at the end of the season so I’m sure it’s on their list after a call into maintenance. I would definitely book this house again.

Overall, the property was clean and easily accessible. However, through no fault of the property owner, Hurricane Sally made somewhat of a mess. When we arrived workers were finishing repair work on the privacy fence around the pool. It had just been filled with water, the weather was cool, therefore only the children used the pool. I really wanted it to be usable by one of our adult members (cancer patient) who couldn't make the walk to the beach. Overall, the property was very nice, but we did have an issue with the wi-fi, fortunately we have a computer tech specialist in the family who was able to get it working. I would stay here again, if I ever return to Gulf Shores, Al.

Well stocked kitchen with all kinds of appliances u might need. Plenty of silverware we never did run out. Décor is very pretty, loved the colors the place felt airy and had the beach vibes. Everyone had a good vacation. Very affordable for the size.

Great house and location. Beautiful house with tons of space. Location is perfect - a 1 minute walk to the beach but good privacy for the pool. The pool is not heated, which was too bad as we had weather in the upper 60s to lower 70s. Overall a great choice for the area.

Awesome in every way. Superb corner location (cross the street and you’re at the beach), 5 bed/bathrooms were all large and spacious, as was the entire house; the “bunk room” sleeps 6, and was a great play-room for the littles; loved the wrap-around porch with tons of rocking chairs; picnic table on side porch overlooks the POOL! We had 13 family members and NEVER felt crowded! The kitchen was VERY well-stocked with every imaginable appliance and everything (except the groceries!) needed to prepare and serve meals - even had TWO refrigerators! Laundry room made this stay over-the-top easy to keep everything clean and sand-free! We all want to return to Sea Urchins North again next year!
